Dotticure with Purple and Neon Orange

This is an easy dotticure inspired by the hoodie of a little girl in my Sunday School class. I swear my cuticles were in better shape before I took these pictures.

To start, I used two coats of OPI Pamplona Purple, a medium purple cream. It's actually warmer than I wanted but when I added the dots using a dotting tool and Flip Flop Fantasy, it ended up as grape-y as I originally planned.

Flip Flop Fantasy is fabulously opaque and incredibly loud. On it's own it dries slightly matte, but a layer of HK Girl topcoat took care of that. Over the purple it looks more peachy than in the bottle. In the bottle it's very very neon neon orange orange. Plus two.

 

For next time, I think I'll do a little more cuticle grooming before I take pictures. And work on dot size uniformity. Dot Size Uniformity is my new band name.

Lighting: Natural Shade, Sunny Midday, Indoor, Winter

Not visible in this picture is the fabulous teal shimmer running through Ocean Wonder, or the subtle magenta sparks in A Frosty Crocus. Or the amazing depth in Dawn's Dew.

Wear time was decent, though Ocean Wonder likes to catch its glitters on stuff and chip sooner than its fellows. Application is a bit tricky, but once you get the hang of it it's alright. Dry time was good.

Mercilessly slaughter your enemies while you give yourself a pedicure

Alrighty everyone. It has come to my attention that some of us don't know what "PvP" means. Following is a short explanation.
WARNING: This is the confession of a self-aknowledged geek.
In case any of you have not heard, there is an online game called World of Warcraft. Also, in case any of you have not heard Phil and I play this game together on a regular basis (it's cheaper than golfing together and we don't have to get a babysitter).
There are two basic elements to this game, World play and PvP. World play involves questing, fighting computer controlled monsters and gathering resources from the world to make into nifty things.
PvP means 'Player vs Player' and is the second major part of this game. It involves fighting other real people who are members of the opposing faction. You can do this in the world area or in separate areas called "battlegrounds" which are made specifically for this function.
I really like this aspect of the game because it adds an extreme element of unpredictability. Literally, you NEVER know what another player is going to decide to do. It's exciting and rewarding, for me, anyway.
And like I said, Phil and I can do this together after the girls go down for the night and no babysitter is required. I can even paint my nails during some of the downtime in the game. It's great.
I LOVE this game. :)

What were you doing ten years ago?
It was the summer after my Sophomore year of high school and I was proudly working my first real job as a Sandwich Artist. Subway was great. The People were crazy and there wasn’t a deep fat fryer to deal with which is a plus for any job. That summer I became good friends with the guys who worked in Joe’s Coffee shop next door and I traded sandwiches for steamers (steamed milk with flavoring). I must have gained 10 pounds that summer.

What were you doing one year ago?
We had just finalized our first mortgage and were on our way to or were already in Pasco, vacationing on the sunny shores of the Columbia River.

Orange, blue and the good ol' boys

Today, with 1 and 14 hours left to go on an ebay auction for "The General Lee" there are sixty bids and the current total is $2,302,300. That car is worth a heck of a lot more than that, in my opinion. Tomorrow, I'm going to paint my nails Totally Tangerine and Glacier Bay Blues in the car's honor.
Oh Dukes, how we miss thee.

French

I was just thinking about French manicures, which I do sometimes when my mind wanders.
Y'all know what a French Manicure is, right? Traditionally flesh or pink tones with a white tip.
Very popular. Invented in the 70's, but we won't hold that against it.
Actually, it's been consistently popular since it was invented, which is rare for any fashion accessory. The real question is, of course, why? Why is it so popular and why does it stay that way?
It's classy, it's feminine, it goes with everything. All good reasons, really.
But I think the real reason everyone loves it is because it mimics a beautiful, natural nail. Really, that's what it is...the look of a healthy, lovely nail, without any embellishments.
People just love that, they crave it-- what's natural and healthy and therefore beautiful. Human beings are drawn to beautiful things, right things and unblemished things. It's in our nature to find them attractive and comforting.
Yes, there are a lot of other looks out there. Yes, there are other ways of living and being. But It seems like they change every five minutes or so and lots of us are struggling to keep up. Why bother? French is just as lovely now as it was 20 years ago. If they had nail polish 1000 years ago, I'm sure it would have been popular then.
So, I don't think I'm going to kill myself keeping up with those fashions.
French is in.
